Hello, fellow “Gouldians” out there…
I serendipitously ran across this page tonight & just wanted to comment that this certain video is my “all-time favorite” & I can never get enough of watching it! It is “GG” at his most relaxed, in his well-worn bathrobe, a cup of coffee, or tea [?] sitting atop the piano, close by. It’s such a ‘warm’ visual of him in his element. You can just tell he is contented & happy with himself & the practice is going good! He has probably forgotten the camera is even there, while he gets lost in practicing his ‘piano-finger-technique’ at his old favorite Chickering piano. Here he is, cloistered in his beloved cabin at Lake Simcoe, with his loyal Collie, Banquo, along side yawning (@ 2:15 min’s. & sec’s.) as his only audience! He is definitely “following his bliss” here, folks! As for Banquo, I like to think that he is probably ’saying’ to himself; “Oh here we go again with Bach’s Partita #2, the master sure does love that one; but it makes me sleepy every time! *Yawn-nn*! I’d really rather be going for a walk with him, & chasin’ sticks, but, *sigh* I’ll just have to wait till he trades the bathrobe for that long ol’ coat, puts the gloves on, & the funny lookin’ hat & says the words, ‘Banquo, Let’s Go’! Then, when he opens the door, I’ll run ahead of him, & out the door before he changes his mind! Woof-woof!”
made my morning.
